Building on the legacy of the historic original Osaka Station that opened in 1874, the hotel has been recognized for our wall-to-wall design rooted in our “time travel” design philosophy that traces back through the memory of the station and railway itself
THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL, Autograph Collection was awarded the silver prize for “Interior Design - Hotel & Resorts” at the SKY DESIGN AWARDS 2025 (hosted by Toronto-based Merci Media), an international award that honors outstanding designs creating socially meaningful value. This prestigious award follows the silver prize for “Service/Hospitality space” at the KUKAN DESIGN AWARD 2025, one of Japan’s largest design awards established to promote the value of spatial design on into the future.
THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL, Autograph Collection was awarded the silver prize for “Interior Design - Hotel & Resorts” at the SKY DESIGN AWARDS 2025 (hosted by Toronto-based Merci Media), an international award that honors outstanding designs creating socially meaningful value. This prestigious award follows the silver prize for “Service/Hospitality space” at the KUKAN DESIGN AWARD 2025, one of Japan’s largest design awards established to promote the value of spatial design on into the future.
TIME TRAVEL: A Journey Through Time and Space
Creating spaces that trace back through the memory of the historic former station and railway
Built on the site of the historic original Osaka Station that opened in 1874, the hotel weaves new stories that connect travelers and the city of Osaka through our brand concept, THE OSAKA TIME. Starting from the memories of the historic original Osaka Station, the flow of time is expressed throughout all spaces within the hotel as a unique location where past, present, and future intersect. From “Embark on a Journey Through Time” at the 1st floor entrance to “Journey Through the Station’s Memories” on the 29th floor lobby, the hotel’s spaces are designed so that ascending through the floors represents movement into the future. With our one-of-a-kind narrative, our design philosophy is “time travel,” the freedom of movement through time and space.

Journey Through the Station’s Memories
At the entrance, a glossy red door reminiscent of the red bricks of the historic original Osaka Station building marks the start of the “Embark on a Journey Through Time” section.
A brick art corridor leading from the 29th-floor elevator hall evokes memories of the historic original Osaka Station building. Brick is a key symbol of the journey through time, an artistic attempt at something totally unique. As you proceed, you are greeted by welcome art inspired by the wooden crossties of the old tracks combined with a ticket-punch design.
At STATION SQUARE, modeled after a station plaza at the lobby’s center, is the WATER STATION, which modernized the old custom of providing water to visitors at stations and trains in older times. This is a refreshing new space where visitors are free to draw and drink water for a moment’s peace.
Embark on a truly unique culinary journey found nowhere else
In THE LOBBY LOUNGE, an impressive ring art sculpture floats high above, its design drawing inspiration from railway tracks. An iconic space featuring an illuminated gabled roof where memories of the historic original Osaka Station live on, enveloping travelers as they take a moment to rest.
Teppanyaki MIZUKI features cuisine that is committed to the flavors of Osaka, long heralded as the nation’s kitchen. Inside the restaurant, the softly shining copper-plate art on the ceiling depicts a map of Osaka.
THE-MOMENT GRILL&DINING is a restaurant inspired by dining cars of luxury trains that once added elegance to special journeys in the earlier days of railroads. Guests can gaze out over the shifting panorama of Osaka through continuous large windows reminiscent of those on a train car.
Create rich memories of your trip as you gaze across Osaka from above the clouds
THE SUITE is a luxurious guest room with breathtaking views of Osaka playing off of a beautiful interior design inspired by the Great Room in the innermost palace of Osaka Castle, traditionally the place with the most exquisite vantage point.
Boasting an expansive 159 m2 area, the bathroom in THE SUITE features a granite bathtub shaped like an “O” for Osaka.
The SPECIALTY SALON on the top floor represents a nexus of accumulated Japanese wisdom, progressing from Osaka to the world and from the past to the future. Recharge and awaken new levels of creativity and inspiration in this special space.

The SKY DESIGN AWARDS were established in 2019 by Merci Media, a company with three locations in Canada, Hong Kong, and Japan that is dedicated to promoting excellence in design and revitalizing the industry worldwide. This award aims to create opportunities for designers to expand the horizons of their potential, much like the limitless sky above. It celebrates the achievements of socially meaningful projects that demonstrate outstanding creativity, innovation, and design excellence.
